Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

PSG have conceded four goals in their opening two Ligue 1 games against Rennes and Lille and Monaco can at least have hopes of finding the net in Paris. Taking both teams to score in a high-scoring contest looks the play.

PSG 3-1

Reason for tip

PSG have a plethora of attacking talent at their disposal, and while they should beat Monaco on home turf, they have not been defensively solid this season and a 3-1 correct score punt could land.

PSG vs Monaco Predictions

  • Both teams have scored in PSG’s two league games
  • Monaco have scored ten goals in their four matches this season
  • PSG have conceded four goals in their opening two Ligue 1 contests

PSG can show their class

Ligue 1 champions PSG have made a tepid start to their title defence, but we have seen the Parisians grow as the campaign progresses.

Luis Enrique’s men lost the French Champions Trophy 1-0 to Lens and they have collected a pair of 2-2 draws in their opening two league matches.

Rennes held PSG at Roazhon Park in their first Ligue 1 fixture, and while Sebastian Szymanski’s superb strike gave Rennais the lead, Enrique’s side did look open at the back.

Lille also held PSG to a 2-2 stalemate on their travels and the European champions are not yet in top gear.

As usual, the Parisians dominated the ball at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy, recording 73 per cent possession against last season’s third-placed side, but they did not make best use of that control.

The expected goals numbers finished 1.44 to 1.27 in favour of PSG, and while a home tie against Monaco is a far easier take than a trip to Lille, the figures indicate that the Parisians are not steaming past their rivals at this stage of the season.

Monaco impressed when beating Marseille 2-0 on Sunday and the Red and Whites can find the net in Paris.
