Ahead of the Curve: 16/1 European treble

Before becoming a Sports Journalist for Free Super Tips, Aaron spent three years studying Sports Journalism at the University of Sunderland while taking in the Black Cats' 'glory years' under Martin O'Neill. Now back in Northern Ireland he turns niche stats into predictions for FST, while he's one of the few people on this island who is equally comfortable at Windsor Park and the Aviva.

The European qualifiers continue this week, with Champions League action across Tuesday and Wednesday night. Given the prize money at stake, seasons could be defined by these late-July results.

Ahead of this week’s second-legs, we’ve asked four tipsters for their best bets for the midweek action. Together they’ve made four selections across three of Wednesday’s matches, which you can back as a 16/1 treble!

Rangers rode their luck at times in their 2-0 win over Panathinaikos, but they should play without fear in Greece. Russell Martin’s team should have fallen behind, but for the excellent Jack Butland in midweek, but their hosts have not been that strong at the back.

Including friendlies, Panathinaikos have kept two clean sheets in their last 15 games, so Rangers should be able to leave with at least a point via the double chance market.

Tip: Rangers double chance vs Panathinaikos

Alex Wrigley

Viktoria Plzen dominated at home to Servette but somehow failed to score from any of their 23 shots, and they may be frustrated again in the return leg in Switzerland. Only ten goals have been scored in Servette’s last nine European games and they will set out to defend their lead, making under 2.5 goals a solid choice.

Servette somehow snuck a 1-0 win in the away leg of their Champions League qualifier at Viktoria Plzen, but the Czech side can hit back in Geneva. Plzen were beaten despite winning the shot count 25-9 and recording an XG of 2.01. Servette also face a trip to Young Boys for their Swiss Super League opener on Saturday, which is an unwelcome distraction.

Tip: Viktoria Plzen to win at Servette & under 2.5 goals

Aaron Rogan

The Bulgarian side beat Dinamo Minsk in their first home qualifier of the season and that advantage should see them past Rijeka following a 0-0 draw in Croatia.

The hosts won three of their four home games in European qualifying last summer, making the Europa League’s League Phase. Despite that, they’re just short of even money to stop a Rijeka side who lost 5-0 on the road as they exited the Conference League qualifiers in 2024.

Tip: Ludogorets to win vs Rijeka
