Oxford vs Coventry – Coventry to win at 3/4 with bet365

Without a point from three Championship games, Oxford have made a dismal start to the season and this was compounded by the 6-0 home defeat to Brighton in the EFL Cup second round on Wednesday.

The U’s have failed to score in two of their three assignments at the Kassam Stadium and they could be in for a rough ride against a rampant Coventry, who recorded a 7-1 win over QPR in their last league match.

Frank Lampard’s side went to Derby before that crushing victory, running out 5-3 winners in an enthralling encounter, and they should have far too much firepower for a suspect Oxford defence.

Ian Wilkerson

Pisa vs Roma – Roma to win at 7/10 with bet365

Pisa are back in the big time in Italy after finishing second in last season’s Serie B, but they could find life tough in their opening home game against Roma.

The new boys got off to an encouraging start when they earned a 1-1 draw at Atalanta last week, but they needed an own goal to earn that point and there are concerns that they were also unable to score in 90 minutes of a Coppa Italia game against second-tier Cesena.

Roma, meanwhile, posted a 1-0 win over Bologna, which means they have lost just one of their last ten league matches and the Wolves can seal three points against a team who conceded in six of their final seven games in the lower division last term.

Warren Ashurst

Bristol City vs Hull City – Bristol City to win at 10/11 with bet365

Bristol City are unbeaten after the first three games, but it could have been even better for Gerhard Stuber’s men.

An opening weekend 4-1 win at Sheffield United has been followed by two draws against Charlton and Derby.

They should have won at Pride Park last Friday, after taking the lead and winning the shot count 11-5, they would have been frustrated to concede an equaliser in the last five minutes.

Hull meanwhile, were dire in their 3-0 home defeat to Blackburn and their squad looks really thin and could be facing a relegation tussle again this term.

Heerenveen vs Go Ahead Eagles – Heerenveen to win at 5/4 with bet365

Both sides are aiming for their first win of the campaign, with the pair falling to home defeats last weekend. Go Ahead Eagles were beaten 3-0 by Sparta Rotterdam, while Heerenveen lost narrowly to Twente.

However, the hosts won the Expected Goals battle in that game. They also had a brilliant home record last season, winning 10 of their 17 home matches while suffering only one defeat. That included a 1-0 win over Go Ahead Eagles, who averaged just a point per game on their travels.

Excelsior vs Twente – Twente to win at 5/6 with bet365

Eerste Divisie runners-up Excelsior have endured a difficult start to life back in the top flight, and their baptism of fire may be extended when they host Twente on Saturday evening.

The hosts have lost all three Eredivisie outings so far by an aggregate scoreline of 11-2, while Twente got the ball rolling on their campaign with a win at Heerenveen last time out. The Tukkers beat Excelsior home and away the last time the hosts were relegated in 2023/24 and are unbeaten against them since 2017, so back them to make it successive wins in Rotterdam.

Joe Casey

Leeds vs Newcastle – Newcastle at 23/20 with bet365

The signing of Nick Woltemade should improve the mood music around Newcastle and they are fancied to celebrate with a success over Leeds in the late kick-off.

The Magpies ran Liverpool close with ten men last time out and while they have suffered some injuries from that fiery clash, they now have sufficient strength in depth to deal with those issues.

Lewis Miley and Jacob Ramsey impressed from the bench on Monday and should start in midfield. A suspension to Anthony Gordon is not ideal but William Osula’s chaotic playing style can be productive.

Leeds lost to Sheffield Wednesday in the cup in midweek and look set to be outclassed without key midfielder Ethan Ampadu
