Newcastle vs Manchester United – Tues 12th Jan – 19:45
Newcastle’s injury list shows no signs of shrinking, and they come into this game with 14 players either rules out or doubtful. Florian Thauvin, Fabricio Coloccini, Kevin Mbabu, Jack Colback, and Papiss Cisse are all doubtful to make the starting line up. Rolando Aarons, Emmanuele Riviere, and Steven Taylor are hoping to make a return later in the month, but the likes of Vurnon Anita, Mike Williamson, Massadio Haidara, Tim Krul, Gabriel Obertan, and Craig Good will have to wait until February and beyond.
Bastian Schweinsteiger sustained a knee injury in Manchester United’s clash with Sheffield United on Saturday, and he joins Phil Jones, Nick Powell, Marcos Rojo, Luke Shaw, and Antonio Valencia on the sidelines for the visitors.
Aston Villa vs Crystal Palace – Tues 12th Jan – 19:45
Aston Villa can now add a growing injured contingent to their list of concerns. Micah Richards, Jack Grealish, and Gabby Agbonlahor are all doubtful for the relegation threatened team’s hosting of Crystal Palace. Alan Hutton and Carlos Sanchez should be fit by the weekend, but Adama Traore and Jordan Amavi face long spells on the sidelines.
Connor Wickham and Yohann Cabaye are hoping to be fit for Crystal Palace’s trip to Birmingham, but Yannick Bolasie and Dwight Gayle will have to wait a few more weeks. Kwesi Appiah is still in recovery from the ACL injury he sustained at the start of the season.
Bournemouth vs West Ham – Tues 12th Jan – 19:45
Bournemouth injury mainstays Callum Wilson, Max Gradel, and Tyrone Mings remain a long way off for the hosts. Tommy Elphick is edging closer to a recovery, and Josh King is hoping to be back in time to face West Ham.
Enner Valencia could make a return for West Ham on Tuesday, with Victor Moses hoping to join him back in action at the weekend. Diafra Sakho and Manuel Lanzini will have to wait until the beginning of February to take to the pitch again though.
Manchester City vs Everton – Weds 13th Jan – 19:45
David Silva, Fernandinho, Yaya Toure, and Wilfried Bony are all slight doubts for Manchester City on Wednesday. Captain Vincent Kompany won’t be back for another week or so though. Samir Nasri is still a few months off a recovery, and the extent of Elaquim Mangala’s hamstring injury is still unknown.
Everton also have a host of doubts, with Tom Cleverley, Romelu Lukaku, Steven Naismith, and Ramiro Funes Mori are all hoping to make the grade in time for Wednesday’s crucial away clash. Seamus Coleman won’t be back until the end of January, with James McCarthy following on soon after. Tyias Browning won’t feature again this season though after sustaining a serious knee injury.
Southampton vs Watford – Weds 13th Jan – 19:45
Graziano Pelle’s knee injury is going to keep him out of the Southampton squad until next weekend, with Jay Rodriguez and Fraser Forster hopefully following him back to fitness a couple of weeks later. Florin Gardos is still on the long road to recovery from a serious knee problem, and it’s unlikely that he’ll feature much this season.
Joel Ekstrand’s injury frustration continues. He is Watford’s only casualty and hasn’t featured at all so far this season thanks to a string of injuries. He is hoping to be fit for next weekend.
Swansea vs Sunderland – Weds 13th Jan – 19:45
Swansea’s excellent physiotherapists continue their good work, and Swansea come into this home clash with a clean bill of health.
John O’Shea is a doubt for Sunderland though, and he could join Seb Larsson, Jack Rodwell, Adam Matthews, and Younes Kaboul on the sidelines.
Tottenham Hotspur vs Leicester – Weds 13th Jan – 19:45
Ryan Mason, Moussa Dembele, and Alex Pritchard aren’t going to make this Premier League top four clash against Leicester for Tottenham Hotspur, but they are expected back at the weekend. Clinton N’Jie won’t return until March though.
Leicester’s star striker Jamie Vardy is a doubt coming into this crucial away match. Jordan Schlupp and Matthew James will definitely miss out though, with them back at the start of February and the end of January respectively.
Stoke vs Norwich – Weds 13th Jan – 19:45
Geoff Cameron, Marco Muniesa, and Stephen Ireland are all doubts for Stoke coming into this match. They should be back in action by the weekend though, and will be followed a week later by Shay Given.
Norwich are almost fully fit, with only the doubtful Matt Jarvis marring their injury record at the moment.
Chelsea vs West Brom – Weds 13th Jan – 19:45
A few key Chelsea players have picked up knocks in the past week, and Diego Costa, Oscar, Loic Remy, and Nemanja Matic are all doubtful coming into this clash against West Brom. Eden Hazard and the out of favour Radamel Falcao are all some way off a recovery though.
Victor Anichebe and Jonas Olsson are both doubts for West Brom, but apart from that they have a fully fit squad ahead of their trip to Stamford Bridge.
Liverpool vs Arsenal – Weds 13th Jan – 19:45
Liverpool are hoping to welcome back Jordan Ibe and Mamadhou Sakho for a crucial tie against Arsenal. However, they will still be without Dejan Lovren, Phillipe Coutinho, Jordan Henderson, Divock Origi, Martin Skrtel, Jordan Rossiter, Daniel Sturridge, Danny Ings, and Joe Gomez.
Arsenal’s injury crisis finally seems to be drawing to a close. Star striker Alexis Sanchez should be fit for their weekend tie, with Tomas Rosicky, Danny Welbeck, and Jack Wilshere following him within the next four weeks. Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla are still some way off a recovery though.
