World Cup 2026 comes to a close on Sunday as Spain and Argentina meet in the final at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
We’ve got a huge bet builder tip from our experts and another based on betting trends, as well as the game itself covered in our dedicated Match Predictions section.
Now I’ve put together two further World Cup bet builder tips focusing on the player markets, with one bold 101/1 option and a more modest 11/1 shot.
Both of these bets have been put together using Paddy Power and both can be backed below, while new customers can take advantage of their sign-up offer.
Spain vs Argentina World Cup Final Ultimate Bet Builder
Lionel Messi to create 4+ shots
Lionel Messi has eight goals at the World Cup and is a contender to land the Golden Boot award, but he has taken on a more creative role in the latter stages of the competition with all four of his assists coming in the last three games.
The veteran forward has created 16 shots in total in Argentina’s knockout clashes with Egypt, Switzerland and England. Four or more is a big target against Spain but it is an achievable goal for Messi.
Mikel Oyarzabal to have 2+ shots on target (including woodwork)
Mikel Oyarzabal is Spain’s leading scorer with five goals and he may be able to add to that tally in the final. Backing Oyarzabal to have two or more shots on target offers a bit more value than an anytime goal from the Real Sociedad striker and he is capable of at least forcing two saves, as he is averaging 1.7 shots per game either on target or off the woodwork.
Lisandro Martinez to be shown a card
Argentina defender Lisandro Martinez picked up his first booking of the competition against England but was perhaps lucky to avoid cards in the previous rounds as he had two fouls against both Egypt and Switzerland. Both of Argentina’s central defenders look candidates for cards and Manchester United’s Martinez is the better value option of the two.
Pedro Porro to be shown a card
It wouldn’t be a surprise to see at least one defender from each team pick up a card and for Spain Pedro Porro looks a strong pick, and he also represents good value.
Porro hasn’t been booked during the competition but he did receive 10 cards in the Premier League last season. He also averages more fouls per game in the World Cup than his three team-mates at the back, with Porro averaging 1.4 fouls per game.
Spain vs Argentina World Cup Final Bet Builder
Enzo Fernandez to commit 2+ fouls
Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez is committing 1.5 fouls per game on average at the World Cup and he’s had multiple infringements in two of his side’s last three games, including three against England in the last four.
Argentina have faced three European teams so far in North America and Fernandez has committed at least two fouls in two of those games.
Fabian Ruiz to have 1+ shots on target (including woodwork)
Spain midfielder Fabian Ruiz averages just under a shot per game at the World Cup and he’s been accurate, with two thirds of his attempts recorded as on target. Ruiz has upped his offensive workrate in the latter rounds of the tournament with three shots and one goal across the last two games, he can at least test the Argentine keeper.
Lionel Messi to create 3+ shots
Lionel Messi is averaging 3.6 key passes per game in the tournament and he sits joint second in the World Cup assists chart with four in total.
Messi created six shots against both Egypt and Switzerland and then four against England in the semi-finals, three or more against Spain seems a realistic target for Argentina’s evergreen superstar.
Alex Baena to be fouled 2+ times
Argentina have committed at least 13 fouls in all of their knockout games so far and are likely to adopt a physical approach at various stages during the final as they bid to disrupt Spain’s rhythm.
La Roja forward Alex Baena has been fouled six times across his last four games and was fouled twice in the semi-final win over France, he looks a contender to be on the receiving end of at least two infringements.
