Over 2.5 goals

Manchester United have been involved in high-scoring games of late and eight of their last 10 across all competitions have seen at least three goals scored. Newcastle’s haven’t been as entertaining, but with a trophy at stake both teams will go for it and that could lead to a few goals. EFL Cup finals also tend to be entertaining, with 64% of the finals since the turn of the millennium seeing over 2.5 goals scored. Both of these teams are capable of scoring so together they can combine for over 2.5 goals.

Manchester United to have five or more shots on target

Manchester United have managed at least five shots on target in each of their last nine games across all competitions. Newcastle have faced 12 shots on goal across their last two games, and the Red Devils may be more inclined to try their luck and test Newcastle’s back-up keeper, Loris Karius, with first-choice Nick Pope suspended.

Marcus Rashford to score anytime

Marcus Rashford has hit six goals in his last six games for Manchester United and has starred in this competition with five goals and two assists in five games. The England international drew a blank in the midweek win over Barcelona but can get back among the goals at Wembley.

Casemiro to be shown a card

Midfielder Casemiro returns from a domestic suspension for Manchester United but picked up yellow cards in both legs of his side’s Europa League win over Barcelona. This looks set to be a fiercely contested final between two closely matched teams and that may result in the game becoming physical at times, with Casemiro a strong contender for a card from a Manchester United perspective.

Joelinton to be shown a card

Joelinton looks Newcastle’s most likely card candidate as he leads the way in yellow cards in the Premier League with nine in total so far. The Brazilian will come up against compatriots Fred and Casemiro in the United midfield, and all three of those players are no strangers to midfield battles so a few cards may well be dished out on Sunday.
