In the first part of their four-fold #OOT selection, our tipsters backed Leverkusen to win by two goals. With a sparkling array of attacking talent at their disposal, Champions League chasing Bayer were ruthless against the Bundesliga’s worst defence, running up a meaty 4-1 scoreline at Werder’s expense.
Our tip also needed the golden boy of German football, Kai Havertz, to notch – and the wonderkid duly obliged, hitting his team’s first two goals inside a breathtaking 33 minutes.
Werder left-back Marco Friedl needed a booking to complete our quartet of tips, and the 22-year-old was carded with 15 minutes to go….leaving our selection 75% complete.
Our analysts predicted that Werder’s tussle with Leverkusen would be corner heavy, though this particular set-piece forecast went right to the wire. With the combined corner count locked at nine and time trickling away, Bayer’s Julian Baumgartlinger won the game’s 10th on 89 minutes to bring home our massive 66/1 special.
His teammate Leon Bailly won another corner in injury time………….but we were too busy celebrating to notice!
