The PGA Tour heads to Vidanta Vallarta for the Mexico Open this week and the DP Tour action comes from the Catalunya Championship in Girona, Spain.

Racing Post golf expert Steve Palmer has picked a winner for each event and together they combine for a huge 965/1 double, which as always he recommends backing as an each way bet.

The DP World Tour stays in Spain this week for the Catalunya Championship, while the PGA Tour moves to a new venue for the Mexico Open, so each-way double fans have the opportunity to load their punting pistols.

A class act who appears to be getting back to something close to his best can be followed at juicy odds in Spain, while a Ryder Cup star well suited to the course can upstage the short-price favourite in Mexico.

Pairing 45/1 chance Victor Perez for the Catalunya Championship with 20/1 hopeful Tony Finau for the Mexico Open creates a 965/1 double.

Perez improved on each day of the ISPS Handa Championship last week, carding rounds of 70, 68, 68, 66 to finish eighth, and the Frenchman could be getting back to the sort of form which made him world number 30 just 13 months ago.

Perez, runner-up in the 2020 BMW PGA Championship and fourth in last year’s WGC-Match Play, spent some time in the doldrums afterwards, but he has missed only one cut in his last nine tournaments, slowly but surely rebuilding confidence, and PGA Catalunya seems an ideal layout for him.

Perez has won in Spain on the Alps Tour and the Challenge Tour – and he can complete a Spanish hat-trick on Sunday.

Finau relishes the paspalum grass which features at the Vidanta Vallarta course hosting the Mexico Open. He won his maiden PGA Tour title – the Puerto Rico Open – on paspalum grass. He has twice finished in the top eight in the PGA Tour event at El Camaleon – a track in Mexico with paspalum – and he was second on paspalum in last year’s Saudi International.

Finau, like Perez, has hinted in recent weeks that he is creeping back into form. If both of these giants peak this week, double backers could be in clover.
