Tuesday marks the long-awaited return of the Champions League proper and looking at the fixture list we’re in for an absolute treat!

Barcelona vs Bayern Munich has to be considered the standout tie but with Manchester United, Chelsea and Juventus all in action as well there is no shortage of games to get stuck into.

We’ve got tips in all the main betting markets for every tie over on our Champions League predictions page but delving into the player props is always interesting and I’ve picked out seven tasty looking bets for Tuesday’s action below.

Tuesday’s Champions League player props

27/1 anytime goalscorer accumulator

Cristiano Ronaldo announced his Premier League return in emphatic fashion on Saturday as his brace helped Manchester United to a 4-1 win over Newcastle and you wouldn’t put it past the Portuguese legend to add to his tally on Tuesday. Ronaldo is the all-time top goalscorer in the Champions League with 135 to his name and with nine goals in his last seven competitive appearances for club and country he could make merry in Switzerland.

Sevilla’s summer signing Erik Lamela is yet to make a start for his new club but that hasn’t stopped him getting off the mark in Spain. He scored a brace on his debut from the bench against Rayo Vallecano and added another at Getafe. With three goals from three substitute appearances he is surely pushing for a start here and Salzburg’s defence could find it hard to handle him.

Robert Lewandowski is the first player that comes to mind whenever Bayern Munich are involved but the value lies elsewhere in their trip to the Camp Nou and Thomas Muller looks a solid pick. The Bayern Munich attacker has scored six goals in five Champions League meetings with Barcelona and he has scored twice for the Bavarians already this season.

Jorginho is another left-field pick for Tuesday’s action, with the Chelsea midfielder coming up against a Zenit side renowned for giving away penalties. The Russian side lost all of their away games in last season’s Champions League group stage and conceded a penalty in all three of those defeats, so backing the Italian to get on the scoresheet looks a good price.

27/1 shots on target treble

Young Benfica attacker Goncalo Ramos is yet to find the net this season but it certainly isn’t for lack of trying. The 20-year-old has started four games in all competitions this season and has only failed to test the keeper in one of these. Two of them have seen him hit the target at least twice, and both of these have come away from home. Backing Ramos to have two or more shots on target in Kiev looks fantastic value.

Duvan Zapata is a more familiar name to many and he looks primed to give Villarreal a hard time on Tuesday. The Atalanta striker hit the target twice – scoring with one of those efforts – in his first appearance of the season at the weekend and he has only failed to test the keeper in four of his last 17 appearances for Atalanta. I’m backing Zapata to have at least two shots on target.

Wolfsburg’s Ridle Baku stands out as another option in the shots market, with the right-sided attacker scoring twice in five outings for his club this season but having a hefty amount of pops at goal. The 23-year-old has attempted 17 shots in these five games and has hit the target in all but one of them, so backing Baku to have one or more shots on target is my choice.
