We’ve already picked out our favourites for the European Championships, alongside our Euro 2020 dark horses. Next up we’re taking a look at the players to watch this summer. With betting markets available for the golden boot, player of the tournament and young player of the tournament we’re got best bets for each.
The competition is fierce with a collection of superstars battling it out for glory this summer. We’ve been looking at each side in detail in our Euro 2020 team guides and that’s helped us select six tips across four markets.
Top goalscorer betting odds
- Harry Kane – 11/2
- Romelu Lukaku – 7/1
- Kylian Mbappe – 9/1
- Cristiano Ronaldo – 12/1
Top goalscorer predictions
Romelu Lukaku (Belgium)
After a brilliant season it’s no surprise to see Lukaku among the favourites to top the scoring charts. He’s scored 47 times across the last two Serie A campaigns, leading Inter to the title this term. The forward was named Serie A’s best player this term. For his national side Lukaku has scored 19 goals in his last 20 appearances.
He’s become more self-reliant at Inter, which means playing alongside the likes of Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne can only help him. With a brilliant track record, a confidence-building season behind him and a straightforward group in which to rack up the goals Lukaku is good value at 7/1.
Ciro Immobile (Italy)
Another Serie A sharpshooter is Ciro Immobile, who has scored 123 times in 177 appearances in the league over the last five seasons. He’s proven himself in Europe too, having scored five times in five Champions League appearances this term.
Immobile is the central striker for the Italians and we’re backing Italy to go far in this tournament, so Immobile is a really well-priced option who should step up this summer.
Burak Yilmaz (Turkey)
Our final pick for the golden boot is Turkey’s Burak Yilmaz, a player who is coming off an incredible season at Lille. The forward scored 18 times in their shock Ligue 1 title win and he’s expected to carry that great form into this summer’s tournament.
Yilmaz has 29 international goals, with five of those coming in a great 2021 alone. He scored a hat-trick in a victory over the Netherlands in World Cup qualifying, which shows that he’s capable of causing problems at the highest level. He seems generously priced at 40/1 so he’s our final pick in the top scorer race.
Winner/top scorer double
We’ve already backed up the French in our outright predictions, but that doesn’t mean they’ll have a player take this prize. Only once this century has a side won the tournament and had the outright top-scorer – Spain and David Villa in 2008.
Given that, there’s value in combining our outright winner prediction with our top scorer picks and we’re taking the huge 50/1 double available on France to lift the trophy and Lukaku to outscore the rest.
Player of the tournament betting odds
- Kylian Mbappe – 8/1
- Kevin De Bruyne – 10/1
- Harry Kane – 12/1
- Cristiano Ronaldo – 20/1
Player of the tournament predictions
N’Golo Kante (France)
All of the last six winners of the Euros have boasted the best player of the tournament award. Given that, it’s probably wise to look at the pre-tournament favourites for this market with France boasting plenty of superstars. While Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann are among the favourites, N’Golo Kante is our pick to take the award.
The Chelsea midfielder recently won the man of the match award in the Champions League final, marking him out as a contender for the Ballon d’Or. Kante has been excellent in 2021 and the amount of ground he covers will be vital in tournament football, while he’ll unite France’s great defence with their impressive attack. Many are starting to see that Kante is more than just a committed shuttler, he’s technically and tactically brilliant. Those attributes make him a brilliant option at 20/1.
Young player of the tournament betting odds
- Phil Foden – 7/2
- Mason Mount – 13/2
- Kai Havertz – 7/1
- Ferran Torres – 9/1
Young player of the tournament predictions
Ferran Torres (Spain)
Man City’s Ferran Torres has been in and out of their side this season, but his starring role in the Champions League group stages showed his potential. The winger has broken into the Spanish set up at just 21 and he finished the season with a hat-trick against Newcastle. He’s set to start for them in the group stage and with a straightforward group in prospect Torres has the chance to make an impression.
