French Open Outright Tips
French Open Men’s Tournament – Carlos Alcaraz to win French Open @ 11/10 with bet365
The last five Grand Slam titles have been shared between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz and that illustrious pair appear to have this season’s French Open between them.
Alcaraz is the defending champion at Roland Garros and, having defeated fierce rival Sinner in his own backyard to take the title in Rome last time out, the Spaniard is the one to side with.
The 22-year-old has now won four of his last five meetings with the Italian world number one and is far more comfortable on this slower terrain.
While Sinner has won only one clay-court title, which came at the Croatian Open back in 2022, Alcaraz has claimed ten of his 19 ATP Tour wins on clay and he has lost just two of his last 29 matches on the slower surface.
Alcaraz may also have the easier passage to the final. Sinner is housed in a star-studded top half of the draw alongside last season’s runner-up Alexander Zverev, 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic and up-and-coming British talent Jack Draper.
The other concern surrounding Sinner is that this is only his second tournament appearance since he won the Australian Open in January as he was forced to face a three-month doping ban and he has to prove he is currently sharp enough to cope with the demands of a Grand Slam.
The top seed is also unlikely to receive a warm reception from a hostile French crowd following his suspension and having to face two home players in the opening two rounds could prove mentally draining.
Alcaraz appears to have raised his game with Sinner back on the ATP Tour and everything looks in place for him to land his fifth Grand Slam title in Paris.
French Open Women’s Tournament – Coco Gauff to win French Open @ 9/2 with bet365
Iga Swiatek has dominated the French Open in recent years, winning three in a row and four of the last five, but her recent clay-court form has been uninspiring.
The Pole’s title defence is made tougher with her being housed in top half of the draw alongside world number one Aryna Sabalenka as well as former Wimbledon winner Elena Rybakina and recent Rome champion Jasmine Paolini.
That means the bottom half of the draw could be the place to target and Coco Gauff, runner-up to Swiatek in Paris in 2022, must boast rock-solid claims.
The American has made back-to-back clay-court finals in big events in Madrid and Rome and it may be that her stiffest test before a potential title decider could come from teenage talent Mirra Andreeva, who was a semi-finalist at Roland Garros last year.
However, Gauff has had the 18-year-old’s measure, winning all four previous meetings which includes straight-set victories in those clay-court competitions that the American has fared so well in in Madrid and Rome.
