The 2025/26 season is gathering pace, as this weekend features action from all five of Europe’s top leagues. Before that, there’s another busy week of European qualifiers, giving us a packed fixture slate from Tuesday through to Sunday.

Tuesday – Rangers vs Club Brugge
Rangers have progressed through their first two Champions League qualifiers thanks to home wins to nil. However, there have been familiar defensive issues for former Southampton boss Russell Martin despite those clean sheets.
Both Panathinaikos and Viktoria Plzen had plenty of chances at Ibrox. Both teams have scored in five of Rangers’ last six games, following their 4-2 win over Alloa at the weekend.
Club Brugge have started the season well in front of goal, so expect them to punish any defensive lapses. The Belgian side won a 3-2 thriller against Salzburg last week, so goals should flow at Ibrox.

Wednesday – Bodo Glimt vs Sturm Graz
Bodo Glimt fell just short in Champions League qualifying last year, before their brilliant run to the Europa League semi-finals. There were 12 goals scored across their three home qualifiers last summer, while over 2.5 goals landed in six of their eight home Europa League matches.
Austrian champions Sturm Graz struggled defensively in their Champions League trips last season, but they will pose a threat in this first leg. Over 2.5 goals has landed in three of their first four games this term.

Thursday – Aberdeen vs FCSB
Aberdeen bounced back from 2-0 defeats to Hearts and Celtic with a 3-0 victory at Greenock Morton on Saturday. They should get more joy going forward against an FCSB side who have made a rough start defensively.
The Romanian side beat Drita 6-3 on aggregate, while they’ve conceded in 12 of their 13 games so far. Over 2.5 goals has landed in six of their previous seven, so expect an open game at Pittodrie.

Friday – West Ham vs Chelsea
Chelsea drew 0-0 in their opener, but they and Palace combined for 2.88 Expected Goals and a disallowed strike. The Blues face a much less organised opponent, with West Ham losing 3-0 at Sunderland.
Chelsea looked defensively shaky without Levi Colwill, while the Hammers scored in five of their final six home games last season. The clash at London Road should see the pair improve in front of goal, so over 2.5 goals appeals.

Saturday – Plymouth vs Blackpool
Blackpool secured their first win of the season on Saturday, but their defensive issues continued. They came from behind to beat Huddersfield 3-2, following a 4-1 loss at Exeter and a 3-2 defeat to Stevenage.
Plymouth have won and lost 3-2 across their previous two games, while they opened the season with a 3-1 defeat at home to Barnsley. With both defences struggling, another thriller is on the cards.

Sunday – Como vs Lazio
Como are shaping up as a European contender under Cesc Fabregas, having added attacking talent to their side this summer. Wingers Jesus Rodriguez and Nicolas Kuhn pose a threat on either side, while attacking midfielder Martin Baturina can tie the team together.
Lazio are dealing with off-field issues, limiting their transfer business and leaving them vulnerable. Reappointing Maurizio Sarri isn’t going to improve them defensively, but it should make for an entertaining opener by Lake Como.
