In The Mixer is FST’s weekly column where we catch up with our team of experts in football betting and get their opinions on the hot topic of the week.

There are eight FA Cup ties this week with four games on Tuesday and four on Wednesday so we asked our team of experts for their best midweek FA Cup scorer bets.

FA Cup Goalscorer Tips From The Experts

Brighton have a great chance at a deep FA Cup run this season with the club sitting eighth in the Premier League and they meet Championship side Stoke on Tuesday. That looks like the perfect chance for Kaoru Mitoma to return to scoring form after his recent goal-glut.

The Japanese midfielder has been involved in six goals across his last nine appearances, scoring five times in that run. He found the net in the last round against Liverpool and after a couple of quiet games and a weekend rest the midfielder is worth a look at 2/1.

Fulham’s Manor Solomon has been limited to substitute appearances in the Premier League but he has started in two of the Cottagers’ three FA Cup fixtures and the 23-year-old Israel international should be in line to start again after a fantastic run of scoring form.

He has scored crucial goals from the bench in each of Fulham’s last three games and could face a rotated Leeds side as they focus on the fight for top-flight survival. At 11/1, the in-form forward looks fantastic value.

One could argue Burnley have enough of a buffer at the Championship summit to stick with a strong starting 11 in their FA Cup fifth-round clash with Fleetwood and that means star wide player Nathan Tella could be involved.

It was a brace from Tella which saw Burnley secure a 2-1 win over Ipswich in their FA Cup fourth round replay and he has played a crucial role in the club’s promotion pursuit this season.

In his 31 Championship appearances this season, Tella has struck 12 goals, having fired a hat-trick against Preston only earlier this month.

Michael Obafemi has made a strong case for a place in Burnley’s starting 11 against League One Fleetwood at Turf Moor on Wednesday and he is well worth considering in the goalscorer markets.

The Ireland international has made only three substitute appearances for the runaway Championship leaders since joining on loan from Swansea in January but he has scored in his last two, netting the equaliser against Watford and the final goal of Saturday’s 4-0 win over Huddersfield.

The former Southampton forward, still only 22, is a real livewire and he should expect some excellent service from his new teammates if Burnley boss Vincent Kompany gives him the nod up front.

Brighton put five past Middlesbrough the last time they went away to a Championship side in the FA Cup and there are plenty on intriguing goalscoring options in the Seagulls’ squad for the meeting with a soft-centred Stoke side.

Solly March is enjoying the best goalscoring season of his Brigton career and is a tempting price, but at slightly shorter odds, preference goes to Alexis Mac Allister.

The World Cup winner bagged a brace in the third round at Midlesbrough, taking his tally for the season to seven and has the added bonus of being on penalty duty for Brighton. Only March has averaged more shots per game than Mac Allister for the south coast side and Stoke will do well to keep the Argentine quiet.

It seems unlikely that many of the Premier League big guns will be fielding much-weakened teams now we have reached the fifth round of the FA Cup but Leicester’s Kelechi Ihaenacho is one fringe player that is always worth keeping an eye on in this competition.

The Nigeria striker has had a string of starts lately for Brendan Rodgers and he revels in the FA Cup, scoring eight goals in the Foxes’ last seven ties, including the winners in both 1-0 successes they have posted against Gillingham and Walsall this term.

He should fancy his chances of notching against Blackburn, who are in the thick of the Championship playoff hunt and are likely to be focused on their attempt to get back into the Premier League.

Rovers also won just one of their previous eight league away games before Saturday’s trip to QPR, so it could be another great opportunity for Ihaenacho to shine.

Premier League survival is Southampton’s priority and, with a crucial home clash against Leicester to come in the top flight at the weekend, Ruben Selles is likely to rotate his starting line-up for this cup clash with League Two Grimsby.

That could open the door for forward Adam Armstrong, who has struggled for goals since his move to St Mary’s, but did score in Southampton’s third-round victory over Crystal Palace.

Armstrong was a regular scorer at Championship level with Blackburn and he will fancy his chances of unsettling a Grimsby defence that has kept just one clean-sheet across their last five matches in the fourth tier.
