Premier League Betting Tips: Player Specials for Man City's Clash with Leicester!

Born in the south east of Ireland, Simon put his life-long love of football to good use when he started a successful independent blog in 2010. That opened up an alternative route to a career in journalism, and having had work published across a number of sites and publications, Simon joined the staff at Spotlight Sports Group in 2018.

With their respective title defence and title challenge hanging by the thinnest of threads, Manchester City and Leicester face off on Saturday evening in a potentially season-defining Premier League fixture at the Etihad Stadium.

With Liverpool disappearing over the horizon in a rapid red blur, both Man City and Leicester are double digit points behind Jurgen Klopp’s relentless Merseysiders ahead of Saturday’s contest, though a win for either team would allow some hope of catching them to flicker a little longer.

Leicester City haven’t lost in the Premier League since October 5th, though that record will be rigorously tested by a Citizens team that have been toppled just four times at the Etihad in 59 top flight matches since December 2016.

With so much at stake, Saturday’s fixture promises to be an enthralling tussle, and ahead of the action, we’ve compiled a list of player special betting tips for the game that we think are well worth your consideration.

Check them out below.

Kevin de Bruyne over 0.5 shots on target

Belgian superstar Kevin de Bruyne single-handedly tore Arsenal to shreds last weekend, scoring two and making the other of City’s three goals in their emphatic win at the Emirates.

The 28-year old finished with laser precision off either foot before half time to bring his Premier League goal tally for the season up to six, and de Bruyne will be aiming to maintain his hot-streak against Leicester City on Saturday.

Averaging 3.0 shots per 90 minutes overall and 3.8 shots per Premier League contest at the Etihad Stadium this season, de Bruyne’s goal threat is considerable, and the Belgian is priced incredibly generously to test Kasper Schmeichel at least once this weekend.

Ricardo Pereira over 4.5 tackles

Portuguese fullback Ricardo Pereira is enjoying a remarkably consistent campaign for Leicester City this term, and the 26-year old will have a key role to play for the Foxes at the Etihad this weekend.

Pereira has been a veritable tackling machine for Leicester since August, averaging 4.4 tackles per 90 minutes of top-flight action overall, though that average shoots up to 4.9 challenges per game when Leicester play away from the King Power Stadium.

The former Porto star will have to be right on top of his tackling game to keep Leicester’s right flank on lockdown at the home of the champions on Saturday, and we think the defender should challenge his way past 4.5 tackles with relative comfort.

Kevin de Bruyne over 0.5 assists

Kevin de Bruyne features for the second time in our player specials for Man City’s clash with Leicester this weekend, and when you analyse the numbers behind his other-worldly creativity it’s easy to see why.

With a haul of nine Premier League assists so far this season, de Bruyne is out on his own as the most inventive player in the division, and the Belgian international also tops the league’s charts for average key passes played per game with 3.9.

Few teams have been able to cope with the quality of de Bruyne’s probing passes this season, and the 28-year old’s skills are sharp enough to tear holes in the Foxes’ defence this weekend.

Ben Chilwell over 42.5 passes

Alongside his standard defensive duties, highly-regarded fullback Ben Chilwell is routinely a key player in Leicester City’s patterns of possession – something that is reflected in the 22-year old’s impressive stats.

Chilwell tops the pile at Leicester this season for average passes played per game (60.7), leaving more technically talented midfield teammates like Youri Tielemens (53) and James Maddison (45.4) in the dust.

The leftback has in fact, played over our targeted 42.5 passes in 10 of his 12 Premier League appearances for Leicester since August, and we’re backing him to repeat the trick against Man City this weekend.

Raheem Sterling over 2.5 shots

Having plundered nine goals already this season, Raheem Sterling is Manchester City’s joint Premier League top scorer alongside Argentine marksman Sergio Aguero, and the England international is considered by many to be one of Europe’s most dangerous attacking players.

Sterling makes his presence felt in most matches he plays, and the 25-year old has averaged 3.1 attempts on goal per Premier League game this term.

If you dig a little deeper in to the numbers, the stats show that Sterling has racked up three or more attempts in 11 of the 16 Premier League fixtures he has featured in since the summer, and the prolific winger looks well priced to maintain his impressive averages against Leicester this week.
