The Champions League league phase continues this week, which, combined with a full Championship round, gives us a hectic midweek slate to consider before a typically jam-packed weekend.
I have dived into all this week’s fixtures to pick out my top ten bets, which can be backed as singles or combined into a gigantic x/1 week-long acca below.
Back our 386/1 Top 10 acca here!
Roma to beat Manchester United (Tuesday, 8pm)
The pressure built on Michael Carrick on Saturday as Manchester United fell to a 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge, extending their winless run to nine games. They have lost six of these fixtures and Roma, who have won four of their last five, can take advantage of the hosts’ plight.
Bodo/Glimt to beat Lille (Tuesday, 8pm)
Bodo/Glimt were narrowly beaten by Napoli in the last round, but they won at home to Borussia Dortmund earlier this season and Lille have lost all three of their League Phase ties. The Norwegians have won six of their last seven on home soil and look justified favourites for the points.
Over 3.5 goals in Villarreal vs PSG (Tuesday, 8pm)
PSG’s three Champions League ties this season have produced a mammoth 19 goals and another high-scoring affair is on the cards in Spain, with hosts Villarreal seeing four or more goals in all three of their league phase assignments.
Birmingham to beat Millwall (Tuesday, 8pm)
Promotion hopefuls Birmingham made it four wins from their last five games at Lincoln on Saturday and will be vying for another three points against a Millwall side they thrashed 4-0 here almost exactly a year ago. The Lions have lost three of their last five away games and conceded 12 goals in the process.
Both teams to score in AEK vs Real Madrid (Wednesday, 5:45pm)
AEK Athens will need a miracle to claim a result against Real Madrid, but they found the net at Manchester City in October and Los Blancos have kept just two clean sheets all season, shipping in all three of their Champions League victories.
Middlesbrough to beat Wrexham (Wednesday, 7:45pm)
Wrexham lost for the third time in four fixtures at Sheffield United on Friday and a return to winning ways looks beyond them against Championship leaders Middlesbrough. The visitors have won four of their last five games and haven’t lost a league away game since a trip to Blackburn in August.
Bayer Leverkusen to beat Marseille (Thursday, 8pm)
Bayer Leverkusen are one of five teams to have a perfect record in the league phase of the Europa League and they can extend that run against Marseille, who have lost all three of their European assignments and have scored a joint-low one goal.
Sevilla to beat Alaves (Friday, 8pm)
Sevilla have not had the best of seasons so far but they have won two of their last three home games and should be able to live up to their favouritism against an Alaves side yet to taste victory away from home.
Arsenal to win to nil vs Hull (Saturday, 3pm)
Arsenal may have faltered a couple of times this season, but they have maintained a perfect home record and have kept a clean sheet in three of their five wins at the Emirates. Hull’s emphatic start to the season has dwindled and the Tigers head to London having lost three of their last four on the road.
Over 2.5 goals in Brighton vs Brentford (Sunday, 2pm)
Brighton are the leading goalscorers in the Premier League and more goals are in store when they face Brentford on Sunday. Over 2.5 goals has been a winner in five of their six competitive home games and the visiting Bees have seen three or more goals in five of their seven on the road.
