LA Dodgers
    Pittsburgh Pirates

      Tip Reasoning

The Pittsburgh Pirates are a tough team. They handed the reigning Cy Young award winner, Clayton Kershaw, his first loss of the season since June 27 thanks to hitting throughout their line-up. The win snapped a four-game losing streak, which dated back to Game 2 of their previous series against NL Central rivals, the Chicago Cubs.

On Sunday, they’ll hope to build on that effort with their own ace, Gerrit Cole on the mound. He’ll be sneaking to become just the fourth National League pitcher with 17+ wins. He’s re-discovered some form winning four of his last five starts.

Mike Bolsinger takes Matt Latos’ start in the rotation with the Dodgers holding a comfortable eight and a half game lead in the NL West lead. Bolsinger has a reasonable record, but he has been getting hit quite hard in recent match-ups. He is 1-0 since his most recent promotion from Triple-A ball, but owns a 6.23 ERA.

The Dodgers now look firmly like a team destined for the postseason with remaining series against their four division rivals.

      Three Reasons for Betting Tips

      1. No faith in Bolsinger

He’s in the rotation at the moment mainly to help rest/alleviate the burden on the regular starters. He has gotten away with some average outings against Arizona and San Diego, but he won’t against the Pirates and against the pitching of Cole.

      2. Pirates offense found rhythm

Andrew McCutheon hit well and the middle of Pittsburgh’s order found some form on Saturday. They look like a team that should score some runs against Bolsinger.

      3. Pittsburgh locked-in

The Pirates are locked in with their battle in the NL Central with the Cubs and Cardinals. There’s a different lack of intensity around the Dodgers and we think that might cost them here.
