Aarau vs Schaffhausen Betting Tips & Predictions

Aarau haven’t had the speedy return to the top flight they would have been hoping for at the end of last season. They were relegated from the Swiss Super League last term and come into the final game of the Swiss Challenge League season destined for another season in the 2nd tier. They are in 4th position in the table, 12 points adrift of winners Lausanne Sport.

Despite Lausanne Sport running away with the title the rest of the top four are very evenly matched. A win for Aarau on Friday could see them end the season as runners up.

Schaffhausen occupy the position directly below Aarau, but with a six point gap between them and their hosts there is no chance of them moving any further up the table. The best they can hope for is to hold on to a top half finish in the Challenge League.

Aarau have been in very promising form in the second half of this season though. They have only lost one of their last 15 Challenge League matches, and that came against the dominant Lausanne Sport. Nine of these 15 games have resulted in a victory, so if they can carry this sort of form into next season they should be able to secure promotion.

Schaffhausen lost against 2nd placed Wil last time out to end their four match unbeaten streak, but that was only their second defeat in their last 11 outings. Both of these defeats have come at home too, and away from home they have won three and drawn two of their last five. This comes after they have only avoided defeat once before on the road this season, so the visitors have really turned a corner recently.

Aarau have won five, drawn one, and lost one of their last seven games at home, but they’re facing a side who managed to beat Lausanne Sport away from home in their last game on the road.

Schaffhausen have achieved this good run of away form by keeping it tight at the back. They stopped Lausanne from scoring last time out and have only conceded two in their last five away games. This could prove a problem for Aarau, and I think the visitors could end the season with a positive result. Odds of 3/4 for a Schaffhausen Win or Draw Double Chance look good value, so I’m going for that along with a 1-1 correct score prediction at 13/2.
