AC Milan vs Lazio Predictions
- Milan haven’t lost at home in Serie A since January
- None of the last 11 meetings between these sides have ended as draws
- All three of Lazio’s away games this season have gone over 2.5 goals
Home comforts can help Milan
Milan have responded to their derby disaster against Inter with back-to-back victories in Serie A and could move top of the table with a win over Lazio on Saturday evening.
Inter took their city rivals to the cleaners earlier this month with a shock 5-1 win, but the Rossoneri have bounced back well, a goalless draw with Newcastle in the Champions League being followed by away wins at Verona and, more recently, Cagliari.
Now they return to San Siro, which they are set to leave in 2028, according to plans unveiled this week. Milan’s iconic home has largely been good to them recently with Stefano Pioli’s men winning their last five home league matches, while they are unbeaten in 11 in Serie A on their own patch.
Olivier Giroud has particularly enjoyed his outing at home of late, scoring seven goals across the last ten league games at Sani Siro and may mark his 37th birthday with a goal
Milan’s recent run of success at home includes a 2-0 victory over Lazio in May as they made it four straight victories over the Aquile at San Siro.
Lazio making positive progress
Lazio head into this latest encounter with Milan having picked up a much-needed win, beating Torino 2-0 at home in midweek to move to within touching distance of the top-10.
It was a much-improved display by Lazio after a 1-1 draw with Monza at the weekend, after which Maurizio Sarri and his players were heckled.
Having finished runners-up to champions Napoli last season, by those standards, Lazio have underperformed through the first six games and they’ll do well to build on the win over Torino against Milan.
Having performed so well on the road last term, the Biancocelesti have already lost two of their three away games this time around.
However, they have at least found the back of the net in each of those three games and can help push this fixture over the 2.5-goal mark for the eighth time in the last 11 meetings with Milan.
