Adelaide United began their season horrendously when they failed to win any of their first nine competitive games. But all it took was one win to turn their season around.

They finally got that win when they beat Perth Glory back at the start of December, and they haven’t looked back since.

Adelaide United haven’t lost a game since then, with six of their last eight Hyundai A-League games seeing them take all three points. Their only draws have come away from home as well.

This has seen them start to move up the table after their dreadful start, and they have managed to work their way into the A-League’s playoff positions. They sit in 6^th position with a seven point lead over 7^th placed Perth Glory and four points adrift of Sydney FC in 5^th.

Newcastle Jets looked to have vastly improved over the summer. They finished with just 12 points in the A-League last season, but managed to win three of their first four league matches this season.

But it’s all been downhill since then. The visitors come into this match having won just one of their last 12 Hyundai A-League matches, with seven of these games ending in defeat for the struggling side.

Newcastle Jets have, at least, managed to surpass last season’s 12 point tally, but their 16 point total leaves them second from bottom of the table.

Their confidence will be at rock bottom though. They fell to a dismal 6-1 defeat by Perth Glory last weekend and looked like defeated men by the end.

Adelaide United have won their last three matches by two goals or more, scoring ten goals on the way as well. This makes me think a drubbing is on the way, so I think odds of 2.075 for an Adelaide United -1.5 Asian Handicap Win are excellent value for money. I’m going for a 4-1 correct score prediction at 16/1 as well.
