AFC Bournemouth vs Leeds Predictions
- Bournemouth have won five of their last eight games
- Leeds have one of the worst away records in the division, losing 11 trips
- The visitors have seen both teams score in each of their last eight games
- Leeds have lost by a single goal in eight of their 11 away defeats
Leeds clinging to safety
After a run of one point from their last four, Leeds are barely clear of the Premier League’s relegation zone heading into Sunday’s clash with Bournemouth. Javi Gracia’s side failed to see off Leicester at home in midweek, leaving them only a point clear of the third-bottom Foxes.
With Man City, Newcastle and Tottenham yet to come, desperation should be growing at Elland Road. Their visits to Bournemouth and West Ham are their most likely opportunities for points, but the visitors are in terrible shape on the road this term.
Only Nottingham Forest have claimed fewer points on their travels than Leeds, with the visitors losing 11 of 16 trips this term. They head into Sunday’s game with five losses across their last six on the road in all competitions, while this is a Bournemouth side who are pulling themselves towards safety.
Cherries in form
Across the last eight games, only Man City, Newcastle and Aston Villa – three of the top six – have picked up more points than Bournemouth. The hosts have claimed half of their total wins this season during that spell, while they head into this weekend having won three of their last four matches.
The Cherries have suffered defeats at home to Brighton and West Ham in their last two at the Vitality but they have claimed vital wins over Leicester and Everton at their own ground this season. With form on their side, Gary O’Neill’s men should be confident of taking the points on Sunday, although they do have defensive concerns against an adventurous Leeds outfit.
Bournemouth to edge open clash
This encounter pits together the two worst defences in the Premier League, with the pair each conceding 63 times this season. Leeds head south knowing they’ve managed a single clean sheet on their travels all season, but they have found the net in each of their last three trips.
Leeds have also seen both teams score in eight straight games, while they meet a Bournemouth side who have conceded in 69% of their home matches this term. It’s hard to see this being a low-scoring game, given the issues plaguing both defences.
Bournemouth should make the most of home advantage and they can build on their good form against a Leeds outfit which should be sapped of confidence on the road. Back the Cherries to win and concede, with a 2-1 victory looking good against a Leeds side who have lost by a single goal in 73% of their away defeats this term.
