New boys handed a daunting task

Telstar did superbly to battle their way through the playoffs after finishing seventh in the Eerste Divisie last season, but they could have hardly been handed a more difficult fixture in their first Dutch top-flight game since 1978.

It was a huge achievement to see off Willem II, who finished 16th in the top division, in the final, but the scale of what lies ahead of them looks set to hit home this weekend.

A 3-0 loss to NEC Nijmegen in their penultimate home game of last term cost Ajax the title as they fell one-point short of overhauling PSV, and they will be keen to make up for that this term.

That was the only time they were beaten on their own patch in the entire campaign, and with 14 goals conceded in their 17 home games, there looks a strong chance they can post a win without conceding against Telstar, with correct-score punting enthusiasts pointed towards a 3-0 success for the Amsterdam outfit.
