Floundering Ajax don’t represent value

Although Ajax are worthy favourites simply given their stature, players and expectations around the club, it is hard to make a case for siding with them at such skinny odds in this clash.

A woeful draw with NEC last time out extended the Amsterdammers’ run without victory to four league games, their longest such run in over a decade!

That result leaves them three points off the title pace and they only have the fact that all three of the ‘Big Three’ sides failed to win in the last round for not falling further off the title pace.

Stick with Twente for smaller stakes

Currently enjoying a six-game unbeaten run of Eredivisie games, FC Twente are enjoying an excellent moment and could actually leapfrog Ajax with a win here. With just one point separating the sides, it begs the question whether  a 15/2 price on Twente represents great value.

It probably does, but we’re going to play it slightly safer with a double chance selection in favour of the visitors. Twente are only four points off the top and should they win here, surely the talk around Enschede would turn to whether their beloved side can mount an unlikely title challenge.

They don’t win here often, but all three of Twente’s victories away to Ajax in this century ended with a 2-1 scoreline. As such, we’re completing our picks with a tentative correct score selection in favour of Ron Jans’ men.
