Alaves vs Real Betis Predictions
- Alaves have lost six of their opening seven league games
- Alaves have failed to score in five of their six league defeats, losing 1-0 on three occasions
- Real Betis have won three of their last five La Liga matches
Ailing Alaves set for more misery
Alaves were shock 1-0 winners against reigning champions Atletico Madrid in their last La Liga home game, but they may struggle to repeat the trick hosting Real Betis.
That surprise success over Atletico remains Alaves’ only win this season and Victor Laguardia’s fourth-minute header is one of only two goals that they have scored.
In fact, Alaves have lost six of their first seven league fixtures and they have failed to score in five of those losses.
Real Madrid, Mallorca and Osasuna had all won at the Estadio de Mendizorroza prior to Atletico’s visit and a rejuvenated Real Betis should also have Alaves’ measure.
Betis fell out of the blocks and failed to win any of their opening three games, but rallied by collecting ten points from their following four fixtures.
Manuel Pellegrini’s men suffered a setback in a 2-0 loss at Villarreal prior to the international break, but the Yellow Submarine remain the only remaining unbeaten side in La Liga.
Even so, the layoff should have freshened up a classy attack featuring Juanmi, Willian Jose and Nabil Fekir.
Alaves’ two goals have come from a set piece and a penalty, so it is difficult to envisage them causing too many problems for Betis from open play.
With that in mind, we predict a Betis win to nil and are opting for a hard-fought 1-0 success. Three of Alaves’ five league defeats have ended that way.
