Real to claim bounceback victory

Real Madrid’s run of two wins from their last eight games has ramped up the pressure on manager Xabi Alonso but his team are fancied to bounce back from two defeats on the spin when they visit Alaves on Sunday night.

Los Blancos were beaten 2-1 by Manchester City on Wednesday but this is a significant drop in class on those opponents and the visitors can get back to winning ways.

Breaking down low blocks has been an issue for Real this season, they tend to perform better in end-to-end encounters, but that looks unlikely against this Alaves side.

They are camped firmly in midtable after scoring 13 goals in 15 games but only conceding 15 in that spell.

Don’t expect much adventure for the hosts, who will look to sit in and make life as difficult as possible for Real, who could be as many as seven points behind rivals Barcelona come kick-off.

Alonso’s side should start to produce some solutions to that style of football sooner rather than later though and they are fancied to win this one.

Ten of Alaves’ 15 league matches this season have gone under 2.5 goals however and this could be a cagey clash which Real are fancied to win 2-0.
