Hull vs Brighton Predictions
As well as 3 places, there are only 3 points separating the sides so the race for automatic promotion is shaping up to be a really tight one with Middlesbrough and Burnley sandwiched between the pair. A win would take Brighton back into the automatic promotion positions, something they must have thought was well beyond them when they went 8 matches without a win in all competitions in December and early January.
One of those games was a 1-0 defeat at Hull in the FA Cup so they have recent bad memories of the KC Stadium but they did beat Hull by the same scoreline when the sides met on the South Coast earlier in the season.
They bought well in January and have racked up 4 wins on the spin coming into this match although they’ve all been against bottom half clubs and the last 3 were all at home so a trip to the league leaders will be a far tougher test.
Hull have turned the KC Stadium into a real fortress this season and it feels as though they turn up expecting to win every time. The Tigers have won 10 of their last 11 home games and have scored 14 goals since they last conceded at home.
They’ve also won 7 of their 8 matches overall in 2016 and at 17/20 look good to seal another home 3 points in this match.
Hull are perhaps the only team in the league that looks like the complete package with a strong defence that has let in just 19 goals in 30 league games this term and only 6 at home. Unlike Middlesbrough, the only team that can better that record, they have looked good at the other end too particularly over recent months. Only 2 sides can better their record of 47 goals scored with Uruguayan striker Abel Hernandez netting 16 of them.
Therefore they do look a stronger side overall than Brighton and with home advantage a 2-0 Hull win looks a tempting bet at 13/2.
