Alcorcon vs Elche Predictions
This Sunday’s game in the Spanish Segunda Division comes from the outskirts of the capital where Alcorcon are dreaming of increasing the Madrid quota in La Liga to six teams, assuming none of the others are relegated this term. Right now Alcorcon look to have a real shot at hauling themselves up and they are favourites here against an Elche side that are still rebuilding having been demoted two divisions for financial problems a few years back.
Cristóbal Parralo has been the mastermind behind Alcorcon’s current success. He was sacked by Depor after just 3 months in charge last season but has been busy rebuilding his reputation since and Alcorcon are currently one point above his former employers in the promotion push. Indeed they are only 2nd on goal difference to Granada and victory here will see them hit the 30 point mark, just 14 games into the season.
At the very least the hosts look set for a crack at the play-offs but Elche’s ambitions are somewhat less lofty. They are in their first season back at this level having come up from the Segunda B last term and will be relatively content with 15 points and 15th place at this stage as they look to cement themselves back in the second tier.
It’s hard to look past Alcorcon collecting all the points here. They’ve been in excellent form for some time now, winning 9 of their last 13 matches in all competitions. They even comfortably beat top flight neighbours Leganes in a friendly this week and they will fancy they can see off anyone in this division at the Estadio Santo Domingo. Alcorcon average an impressive 2.5 points per home game this term, a record only Malaga can better.
Elche meanwhile have been pretty poor travellers. They are yet to record a win on the road since returning to the second tier and their last two away trips have been particularly miserable. They were hammered 4-0 at Depor and 5-1 at Cadiz and those results extended their poor away record which now stands at just 0.5 points per game on the road this term, the 4th worst record in the division.
Overall backing Alcorcon to Win certainly looks like the way to go here.
Their hosts have built their success on solid defence as much as anything and are unlikely to expose Elche’s defensive issues to quite the same extent as Depor or Cadiz so going for a solid 2-0 Home Win looks good in the Correct Score market.
