      Amiens vs Monaco Predictions

      • Monaco have won just three away games all season, one of which was against fourth-tier opposition and another against bottom club Toulouse.
      • Amiens are second bottom in Ligue 1 but have kept back-to-back clean sheets and managed to shut out a Lyon side on Wednesday that had scored 17 goals in their seven previous games.
      • Monaco won in midweek but were extremely lucky to do so with Angers having the lion share of the chances. The away side had lost their four previous league games.

      Monaco lucky in midweek

Robert Moreno’s Monaco got a much-needed victory on Tuesday as they beat Angers 1-0. They hardly created anything of quality and conceded a lot of the play to their opponents but nevertheless they got the victory and will just be looking to move on.

It was their first clean sheet in nine matches but they were very lucky to keep it as Angers failed to score from eleven shots inside the box, two of which came from the six-yard area. Les Monegasques have conceded twelve goals in their last six matches with six going the other way in this time. It’s not an overly convincing record and one that gets even shakier when you look at their away form.

Monaco have won just three away games all season with one coming against fourth-tier Saint-Pryvé and another over bottom club Toulouse. They’ve conceded 18 goals in their eleven away games in the league and have scored eleven in return. This weak defence has hampered them all season and it could do so again here as they face an Amiens side desperate for points.

      The hosts showing defensive grit

Amiens were dogged on Wednesday as they held Lyon to a 0-0 draw in their own back yard. It was their second clean sheet in a week but their real problem has been putting them in at the other end. The Unicorns have scored three goals in their last seven games in all competitions with just 18 shots from inside the box in the five league fixtures. Even against the worst team in the league last week they failed to convert and this will only greaten the challenge they have here.

They’ve won none of their last five league matches at home although three of these have ended as draws. Amiens have the second worst home record in Ligue 1 this season but following their spirited performance in midweek, they will bring a semblance of confidence into this one.

Teams to cancel each other out in this slug-fest?

This is another pivotal match for Amiens as they have failed to get themselves out of the relegation zone for weeks. They shut out a Lyon side that had scored 17 goals in the seven previous games and have shown some better defensive quality in recent matches and we feel this is what they’ll take to this one again. Monaco really should’ve have created more against a poor Angers side in midweek but didn’t and were extremely fortunate to win.

We think their luck could catch up on them here as their away form hasn’t been exemplary. This fixture has seen over 2.5 goals scored and both teams netting in just one of the last five clashes and with Amiens’ circumstances, we’re backing this to finish as a soggy 0-0 draw.
