Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

AEK drew 2-2 with Dinamo Zagreb on Saturday, just four days after beating them 2-1 in the first leg. We should expect to see more goals as they meet an Antwerp side who drew 1-1 with Leuven at the weekend. The hosts saw both teams score in both legs at this point in Europa Conference League qualifying a year ago, so back more goals.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Antwerp could only manage a draw at Leuven at the weekend and they’ve won just one of their last five home games in Europe. AEK Athens progressed from the last round but they scored three goals after 90 minutes in their 4-3 aggregate win, so look to the draw in what should be a tight first leg.

Antwerp vs Aek Athens Predictions

  • AEK Athens saw both teams score in each of their matches in the last round
  • Antwerp drew 1-1 at the weekend and saw BTTS home and away to Istanbul Basaksehir a year ago

AEK continue huge week

After meeting Dinamo Zagreb twice in four days, AEK Athens are through to take on Antwerp in Champions League qualifying on Tuesday night. The Greek side rallied from 3-2 down on aggregate at home on Saturday night, scoring twice in added time to make the final round of qualifying.

They meet an Antwerp side who won the Belgian title in dramatic circumstances last term, which sent them into the Champions League for the first time since they met Real Madrid in the 1957/58 European Cup first round.

The Belgian side have featured in Europe over the last few years. They were knocked out at this stage of the Europa Conference League a year ago, while they finished bottom of their Europa League group in 2021. That doesn’t bode well for this clash with AEK.

More goals for visitors

Antwerp’s European record makes them a side to swerve as the favourites here. They also head into the clash off the back of a 1-1 draw with Leuven on Friday night, while they saw both teams score across the two legs of their loss to Istanbul Basaksehir in their last European tie.

Both of AEK’s meetings with Dinamo were entertaining affairs, with the Greek side winning 2-1 in the away leg before their 2-2 draw at the weekend. Expect another high-scoring clash, with both teams to score the standout option with question marks hanging over both sides.
