Arbroath vs Partick Thistle Predictions
Bottom-placed Partick Thistle will travel to Angus where they’ll be hosted by Arbroath at Gayfield Park. Can the hosts continue their undefeated streak?
The League One champions continue their brilliant start to the Championship season. The side managed by Dick Campbell has just come from a successful 0-0 draw against current league leaders Dundee United in the Challenge Cup. Despite the game ending goalless, the Red Lichties still progressed to the next round as they were able to win the penalty shoot-out.
Arbroath’s results before their latest outing saw them pick up 2 consecutive 1-0 wins over Alloa Athletic and Dunfermline Athletic. Those results have been their only victories of the season so far, as the Angus side drew their opener with Queen of the South before going on to lose to Inverness CT. However, they’re still in a comfortable 4th place position on 7 points.
After narrowly avoiding relegation last season, Partick Thistle’s season so far in the league has been nothing short of a disaster. The side managed by Gary Caldwell has only picked up a single point in the first 4 Championship games, with the only saving grace being that the side has progressed in both the League Cup and Challenge Cup.
Other than that, Thistle have seen 3 defeats and a draw on the opening day of the season against Alloa Athletic. The Glasgow outfit then lost to league leaders Dundee United before picking up two more defeats against Greenock Morton and Ayr United.
Partick Thistle will come into this game full of confidence after their most recent result and that will certainly help them, especially as they really need a win here to catch up with the teams above them. The same can be said for Arbroath, who have surprised a lot of people by being so far up the table already. It’s still too early to say that they could push for promotion, but so far so good.
Despite picking up a lot of defeats, Thistle have still managed to score at least once in their last 14 fixtures. However, we believe that Arbroath will have the upper hand on Friday. We’re backing the hosts to win and for both teams to score, with a final score of 2-1 to the Red Lichties.
