Arsenal to Win

Reason for tip

Arsenal were held to a draw in Madrid, but they have kept three successive clean sheets at home and have won nine of their last 12 in front of their own fans. They have won five of six Champions League home games this season, including a 4-0 thrashing of Atletico Madrid, who have lost five of their last seven away days.

Viktor Gyokeres To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Viktor Gyokeres has hit a decent run of form lately and was the star in Arsenal’s win over Fulham on Saturday, scoring twice and assisting another. He has nine goals in his last 10 appearances for club and country, one of which came in the first leg last week.

Arsenal vs Atletico Madrid Predictions

  • Arsenal have won five of their six home games in the Champions League.
  • Atletico Madrid have lost five of their last seven away games.
  • Viktor Gyokeres has scored nine goals in his last 10 appearances for club and country.

Gunners primed for home success

Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Madrid last week, but they should be able to make use of their home advantage to progress to the Champions League final for the first time in 20 years.

The Gunners secured a statement win over Fulham at the weekend to strengthen their Premier League title hopes, and they welcome Atletico Madrid having kept three successive clean sheets at the Emirates.

They thrashed Atletico Madrid 4-0 here in October, and Los Colchoneros have lost five of their last seven away games, conceding 14 goals in the process.

Gyokeres’ purple patch to continue

Mikel Arteta’s side appear to have come out of the other side of their downturn in form, and they have won nine of their last 12 at home and five of their six Champions League home games this season.

This points towards a home win and, despite Atletico Madrid’s impressive scoring record, Arsenal should be able to keep a clean sheet. They have conceded just three goals in their six home games in this competition and have three successive home clean sheets in all competitions, making a 2-0 scoreline an appealing option.

Viktor Gyokeres could build on his fantastic performance against Fulham, too. He scored twice and added an assist in that 3-0 win and scored against Atletico Madrid last week, taking his tally to nine goals in his last 10 appearances for club and country.
