Statement victory for Tuchel’s side

Given how England’s World Cup campaign ended, Thomas Tuchel needed a strong run of results in this international break to re-establish confidence. While they started with a 3-2 home defeat to Spain, the Three Lions laid down a marker with Saturday’s 7-0 win over Croatia.

England were dominant in that win in Rijeka, racking up 6.43 Expected Goals in that victory. It was the perfect response to their limp semi-final exit to Argentina, and Tuchel will want more of the same as they wrap up this break at Wembley on Tuesday night.

Czechia are in trouble

The visitors have lost all three games in this window, which followed on from a disappointing World Cup showing where they picked up one point in their group stage exit.

While Anthony Gordon has yet to score for Barcelona since his big summer move, the Catalan fans have quickly taken to him due to his work rate. The winger has been more effective under Tuchel, having now scored in his last four appearances in an England shirt.

Gordon scored against Argentina in Atlanta, and he’s found the net in each of the three games in this international break. That includes scoring the opener in their 2-0 win in Prague, and he can continue that fine return with a strike at Wembley.
