Atalanta vs Genoa Predictions
Atalanta head into this game on the back of a strong run of form. They haven’t lost in any of their last five matches, which has moved them up to sixth in the Serie A table. They moved above Genoa last weekend, and now they have the chance to establish themselves within the top six with a result here. They may even jump into fifth, if results were to go their way.
Genoa were boosted by a 3-0 win over AC Milan in midweek, that was a huge result against one of the most in form sides in the league. It was a crushing defeat for Milan, and a huge pick up for the Rossoblu. Will that result carry them to a success in Bergamo on Sunday?
The visitors can harbour outside hopes of Europe themselves, especially after their midweek result. If they could produce a few more wins like that, they’d be right in the middle of the battle for the top five. If they can take three points away to another in form rival, then you’d have to put Genoa in the picture for a Europa League spot at least.
Genoa should at least use that win to push them on here, and we can see them finding the net away to Atalanta. The visitors have scored 1.25 goals a game away from home this season, while they’ve conceded the same amount. Their games tend to have quite a few goals. Atalanta’s home matches tend to have even more goals, they’ve scored 1.6 a match in front of their own fans, while they’ve let in 1.4.
Atalanta have conceded in 80% of their matches at home this season, with 62% of the goals they’ve conceded coming at their own stadium. On the plus side, they are a pretty clinical side here. They create over 15 shots a match, and they score from 10% of those. Unfortunately, they concede from 13% of the shots they face.
Both teams to score looks likely in this clash. There is an argument to back both to find the net in the second half. Genoa have scored 80% of their goals away from home after half time, while 75% of Atalanta’s home goals have been after the break. That bet is well priced, at 12/5 with bet365. It’s one worth considering if you’re looking for longer odds, but we’re going for BTTS, which is priced at 4/5 here.
