Atlanta United vs FC Dallas Predictions

Atlanta United picked up their first win of the new MLS season at the fifth attempt last weekend, and now the MLS Cup holders go in search of their first home win of the campaign. Dallas provide the opposition on Saturday and, after a good start to the season, the visitors will be confident of adding to their points tally against Atlanta United.

A goal in each half from Barco proved enough for Atlanta United to claim all three points away at New England last time out, and on the balance of play the visitors deserved their victory and could have won by more. A ninth minute effort from Ferreira saw Dallas lead 1-0 at halftime against Portland Timbers, and on the hour mark the hosts doubled their advantage via a Ziegler penalty. Portland pulled a goal back in the sixty-seventh minute and could have equalised late on, but Dallas held on to claim a 2-1 win.

The very limited head to head record between these two clubs doesn’t give us much to go on, but the performances of both teams in the early stages of the season suggests that Dallas are in with a great chance of taking something from Saturday’s match. Atlanta United have only won one game in the MLS this season and both of their home games have ended in 1-1 draws. Dallas have only lost two of their seven games in the MLS this season and their last four matches have seen both teams score. The visitors have over twice as many points on the board compared to Atlanta United and have looked much more consistent than their hosts so far this season.

Only two players have scored for Atlanta United in the MLS this season, and with three goals Barco is there top scorer. Veteran former Spurs defender Ziegler leads the way for Dallas this season with three goals, though two of those have come from the penalty spot. We’re confident that Dallas will take something from Saturday’s matches and have backed the visitors with a double chance bet. Dallas have outperformed Atlanta United this season, but after picking up their first win of the season the hosts are bound to have had a boost in confidence which is why we’re going with the double chance bet instead of an away win. In terms of a final score we’re predicting 1-1 for Saturday’s match as both of Atlanta United’s home games this season have also finished 1-1.
