Atletico Madrid vs Galatasaray Predictions
Diego Simeone’s men are going about their business in typical style. They are quietly but efficiently picking up points at home and abroad and are up to 2nd in La Liga by virtue of their 1-0 win at Real Betis on Sunday.
In Europe, they suffered a rare home defeat against Benfica earlier in the group but are still well placed to qualify from a pretty weak section and only need a point from this fixture to achieve that but will be eager for all 3 points, which would guarantee them a chance of winning the group in the final round of fixtures.
Galatasaray will be knocked out unless they win the match so they have plenty of incentive to have a go but they’ve only won 1 of their last 5 games in all competitions and are yet to win this month. Despite beating Benfica at home, it seems they aren’t the force they once were and even in the Turkish League they are trailing bitter rivals Fenerbahce and Besiktas by 5 and 7 points respectively.
Atletico are unbeaten in 8 games in all competitions since that defeat to Benfica and won’t be taking any chances here. A shock defeat would mean that in all likelihood they would have to win their final game in Lisbon just to qualify, which would be a tough ask so they’ll be naming a full strength side and will be eager to get the job done as soon as possible.
At 4/5 Atletico look good value to at least repeat their 2 goal margin of victory from when the sides met in Istanbul on match-day 1.
It might even be the same scoreline. Atletico should have had more than 1 at Betis at the weekend but haven’t been converting chances of late and it’s unlikely to be a massacre but given they are yet to concede a goal in November and have only let in 2 in their last 7 matches, a home clean sheet seems probable.
Therefore consider backing Atleti to win 2-0 against the Turks again at 9/2.
