Atletico Madrid vs Granada Predictions
- Atletico Madrid won 13 of their 19 home league games this term
- Granada lost 11 of their 21 away games in the Segunda Division last season
- Eight of Atletico’s 13 home wins were by at least two goals
Travel-sick Granada set to struggle
Atletico Madrid will be hoping to spoil the party and upset heavyweights Real Madrid and Barcelona in the La Liga title race this season.
However, with no eye-catching new arrivals, Diego Simeone’s current crop may struggle to build on last season’s third-placed finish and bridge the 11-point gap on reigning champions Barca.
But they should still be the best of the rest and a home showdown with last season’s Segunda Division champions Granada provides the ideal starting point.
Despite winning the title, Granada did lose 11 of their 42 games, with all of those defeats coming away from home.
Granada were unbeaten at home but won only five of their 21 road fixtures, which shows they were far from vintage champions and highlights where the problems may lie on their La Liga return.
Atletico, meanwhile, won 13 of their 19 home games in La Liga, and were never stronger than at the death as they won each of their final nine.
Simeone’s side are expected to prevail and are expected to do so comfortably as Grananda netted only 16 times in 21 away games last term.
Six of Atletico’s 13 home league wins were recorded to nil and correct-score punters can take a chance on 3-0.
But the best bet may be to back Atletico to win by at least two goals, which they managed in eight of those 13 victories on home soil.
