      Sweden to Win

      Reason for tip

Sweden were beaten 3-1 by Scandinavian rivals Norway on Monday but they should find things easier when hosting a less-talented Greece on Thursday. The visitors are without a win in three games and are likely to see that streak extended by the Swedes, who have Alexander Isak fit and firing.

      Sweden 2-0

      Reason for tip

Isak’s return means Sweden should score goals, even if Arsenal’s Viktor Gyokeres doesn’t feature having just played in the Champions League final. Graham Potter’s side need to sharpen up in defence if they are to enjoy a solid World Cup and they can make strides towards that by shutting out Greece, who have gone three games without finding the net.

      Sweden vs Greece Predictions

      • Sweden have won six of their last nine home games
      • Greece have failed to score in their last three matches
      • The Swedes won the last head-to-head 2-0

Potter’s men can enjoy successful World Cup warm-up

Despite a dismal qualifying campaign which saw them pick up only two wins in six games, Sweden are going to the World Cup. They snuck into the playoffs thanks to their Nations League performance and narrowly edged out Ukraine and Poland.

That was about the first good thing Graham Potter has done as a manager since leaving Brighton in 2022, however, and the former Chelsea and West Ham boss is not guaranteed to enjoy a strong tournament.

He will want his warmup games to go well so it is a good thing, therefore, that their final preparation match comes against a poor Greece outfit.

      Swedes set for morale-boosting victory

Ivan Jovanovic’s men struggled in an easy qualifying section alongside Denmark, Scotland and Belarus, picking up only seven points to suggest they are not at the level of Sweden.

Greece were also beaten 1-0 by Paraguay and held to a 0-0 draw at Hungary in their last two friendlies, so it seems unlikely they will cause their hosts too many issues on Thursday.

The Swedes were beaten by Norway in their last friendly but their two playoff wins showed they are at least improving under Potter and Alexander Isak’s return to fitness can only be a positive. Take them to defeat Greece, a side much worse than Noway, in Solna.
