Atletico Madrid vs Sporting Gijon Betting Tips

It has been a frustrating week or so for Atletico fans. They conceded late on in the last round of league fixtures to draw 1-1 against Deportivo and couldn’t break down Astana in midweek in the Champions League as a drab game finished without a goal.

They had though won their previous 4 games in all competitions and will be confident of getting back to winning ways here against Sporting Gijon. Luciano Vietto is their only injury worry so Diego Simeone should have an almost full squad to choose from and with no domestic games for a fortnight after he has no reason to rest players.

Sporting have started brightly and are the highest ranked of the promoted clubs at this stage. They beat Malaga 1-0 at home last time out but 7 of their 12 points have in fact come on the road although this is by far their toughest away game yet.

They were well beaten 3-0 by Athletic Bilbao in their last one and although they’ve performed well against sides in the bottom half, it’s hard to see them having enough to really trouble Atletico Madrid here.

Atletico created plenty of chances against Valencia in their last home match and should have scored more than the 2 goals they managed. They should enjoy life even more here and at 23/20 they look good value with a -2 Asian Handicap.

They are well-drilled in the art of keeping clean sheets, especially at home so it would be something of a surprise if Sporting Gijon were to score in the game so consider backing Atletico to win 3-0 at 5/1.
