Augsburg vs RB Leipzig Predictions

Inconsistent Augsburg

Augsburg picked up their first win in three as they beat FC Cologne 2-0 on Friday, but they come into this one having not won back-to-back Bundesliga matches since the end of March / start of April.

They sit in 16th place in the table and having picked up just 16 points from 15 matches. A large reason for this is their defending, as the clean sheet they picked up last week was their first in ten outings.

Both teams have scored in 7 of their last 10 games though, showing they also know where the back of the net is, while both teams have scored in five of their seven outings at the WWK Arena.

Leipzig terrible on the road

RB Leipzig are one of only three teams yet to win away from home in the Bundesliga this season, with their seven matches yielding three draws and four defeats.

Each of those stalemates ended 1-1, meaning they have failed to keep a single clean sheet on the road this season (it is 11 away league games since they last stopped a team from scoring against them).

In fairness, Domenico Tedesco’s side have faced some tough away challenges, already taking on Freiburg, Union Berlin and Hoffenheim, who are all a step up from Augsburg.

But they do not score too many goals, netting just four from seven games, so while I predict both teams will score, given both teams have a leaky defence, I do not think Leipzig will outscore Augsburg, so predict a 1-1 stalemate.
