Austin FC vs Inter Miami CF Predictions
- Austin FC have won five of their last six MLS home games, including last week’s 5-0 demolition of Cincinnati.
- Inter Miami have lost five of their last six MLS away games.
- Austin FC have led at half-time in five of their last seven MLS home contests, going on to win four.
El Tree are growing into a formidable force
Austin FC smashed Cincinnati in the opening game of their second MLS season and can further demonstrate their playoff potential when they face Inter Miami.
Josh Wolff’s side were always expected to overcome a team that had lost their final 12 games of the 2021 season, but the manner of El Tree’s victory suggests the new talents they added in the offseason have hit the ground running. Austin, which scored just 35 goals – the fewest in MLS – last year were two goals to the good inside 14 minutes.
And that continues a pattern of fast starts that Austin, who have one of the loudest home supports in MLS, have been making in their matches at Q2 Stadium. They have been ahead by half-time in five of their lats seven home contests, going on to win four of those, which suggests the double result market is a place to visit this weekend.
Neville’s men not great on the road
Austin’s home results have been as good as any MLS team since September and we fully anticipate them coming out hot against Inter Miami. Phil Neville’s side arrive on the back of a 0-0 home draw against Chicago Fire in which they had only 40% of possession. That didn’t stop the Herons from creating as many opportunities as their visitors, but they failed to score.
Neville’s men were on a shocking away run at the back end of last season and we would need to see some sustained improvement before we started considering them for a positive away result. Aside from backing Austin to lead at HT and FT in this, we feel a 2-1 correct score bet could prove fruitful. The hosts scored at least three goals in eight of their last ten home games while Miami’s defence shipped at least two in two of their last three 2021 road trips.
