Lille possess a clear edge in the standings and they are the bet away at Auxerre on Sunday.

They are fourth in Ligue 1, 12 places and 17 points above Auxerre, with nine wins, two draws and four defeats from their 15 games this season. The hosts are 16th with three wins, three draws and nine losses.

Lille maintained their winning run last week, beating Marseille 1-0 to bring the visitors’ five-game unbeaten run in Ligue 1 to an end. Lille didn’t create many scoring opportunities, but they edged to victory to the delight of those who backed them at 6/4.

Auxerre have only won one of their last ten Ligue 1 matches.

The home side have been vulnerable defensively. Auxerre have failed to keep a clean sheet in five of their last seven Ligue 1 home games, and have conceded in 16 of their last 20 league games overall.

Auxerre’s attack has been disappointing this season, with the hosts failing to score in three of their last four home games and no team having gone more games without scoring in Ligue 1 this season. Auxerre have only managed seven goals in eight home games – an average of 0.88 goals per game.

A 1-0 win for Lille looks a decent correct-score bet. Six of Lille’s last eight Ligue 1 games have ended with at least one of the sides failing to score and Lille have won their last two matches by a goal.
