Poland vs Sweden Predictions

  • Poland have seen both teams score in 12 of their last 14 games
  • Sweden scored in 13 of their 16 games in 2021
  • That includes their 3-2 win over Poland at Euro 2020
  • Poland have won just three of their last eight at home, beating Andorra, Albania and San Marino

Crunch crash for Lewandowski & co

Italy may not be heading to the World Cup, but one of Poland and Sweden will be as they prepare for their playoff clash on Tuesday night. Of course, that means either Robert Lewandowski or Zlatan Ibrahimovic will miss out in potentially their last shot at a World Cup.

Sweden won 1-0 against the Czech Republic in extra time last week to secure their place in the final, while Poland received a bye after Russia were kicked out.

With the stakes so high for this one the bookies are siding with a low scoring game, but we do have two incredible strikers featuring in this one. On top of that, there are reasons to see Poland being more open, which should up the entertainment factor here.

Leaky Poland need to get forward

Poland have seen both teams score in 12 of their last 14 matches, a run which includes World Cup qualifiers and last summer’s Euros. While we tend to think of them as a functional side, they’ve been unable to get their defence in order for big clashes.

Sweden are coming into this one on the back of a cagey game but being away from home against an open side should encourage them to get forward more. the Swedes scored in all but three of their 16 games in 2021, including a 3-2 win over Poland at the Euros.

There’s plenty of reason to believe both sides can get on the scoresheet in this one, so I’m backing both teams to score. Given that Poland have only beaten Andorra, Albania and San Marino across their last eight at home I can see the Swedes getting something. A 1-1 draw is my correct score prediction.
