Monaco to Win

Reason for tip

Monaco have won nine of their last 11 Ligue 1 away matches while Auxerre have lost back-to-back games after gaining promotion last season.

Monaco 1-0

Reason for tip

Monaco have taken the most shots in Ligue 1 and faced the fewest shots on target. A win to nil is possible for them, but Auxerre came up as Ligue 2 champions with a good defensive record and neat Nice 2-1 in their home opener, so a 1-0 away win may be about right.

Auxerre vs Monaco Predictions

  • Monaco have won nine of their last 11 Ligue 1 away matches
  • Auxerre have lost back-to-back games after gaining promotion last season
  • Monaco have taken the most shots in Ligue 1 and faced the fewest shots on target

Monaco are money on the road

Monaco are good enough to take all three points from Saturday’s Ligue 1 trip to Auxerre, who have suffered back-to-back losses on their return to the top-flight.

After opening their campaign with a 2-1 win over Nice, Christophe Pellisier’s side lost 2-0 at Nantes and 3-1 at Le Havre. A return to their Stade de l’Abbé-Deschamps should boost their belief ahead of this stern test against one of the best road teams in Europe’s top five leagues.

Monaco have nine of their last 11 Ligue 1 away matches, including a 2-0 success over a good Lyon side that finished sixth last term. They were denied victory by a late penalty against Lens last time out, but no-one that saw the game could argue that Will Still’s side should have won the game let alone taken a point from the eventual 1-1 draw.

Hutter’s side have begun the campaign well

Les Monagasques seem to enjoy playing away from home, where the atmosphere is almost always better than their dismal crowds at Stade Louis II generate. They do, however, have a glamourous Champions League clash against Barcelona coming up as a distraction.

All the early-season stats suggest Adi Hutter’s side, who finished nine points back of PSG in second last season, are going to be in the title conversation this year too.

Monaco have taken the most shots in Ligue 1 through their opening three games and faced the fewest shots on target too, so it is worth backing the visitors to pick up all three points on Saturday.
