AZ Reserves vs FC Dordrecht Predictions

A 2-6 thumping at the hands of leaders Den Bosch was a real baptism of fire for new Dordrecht boss Claudio Braga last week, and his side fell to the bottom of Eerste Divisie with results going against them elsewhere. Nonetheless, they face a much more manageable task this Friday as they head to Alkmaar to take on Jong AZ, who moved off the foot of the table at their expense with a 1-3 victory at Jong Utrecht.

Dordrecht weren’t expected to cause promotion favourites Den Bosch many problems at Riwal Hoogwerkers Stadion last week, but new manager Claudio Braga will still have been disappointed to see his charges ship six goals – especially after going in 1-1 at the break.

Schappenkoppen were blown away though in the second half, and they must now pick themselves up quickly to prepare for this Friday’s important clash with Jong AZ, who swapped places with them in the table courtesy of a 1-3 success at Jong Utrecht.

Victory here for Dordrecht will obviously see them reverse the placings with Jong, but they go into the fixture as outsiders based on last week’s results and the fact they’ve failed to land a win on the road this season with three draws and seven defeats suffered from ten outings.

October’s reverse fixture was a close affair as the prolific Ferdy Druijf cancelled out Savvas Mourgos’ early strike to earn Jong AZ a 1-1 draw at Riwal Hoogwerkers Stadion, and we don’t anticipate there being too much between these sides once again this Friday.

Jong will be buoyant after finally landing their second success of the campaign, as goals from Taabouni, Mihalik and Duin sealed what turned out to be a fairly comprehensive win in Utrecht.

Boss Michel Vonk will have been even more satisfied to see his young charges fight back from going a goal behind, and Jong will view this week’s match as a real opportunity to notch rare back to back victories in Eerste Divisie.

Based on that performance and home advantage, Jong are clearly the most likely winners in Alkmaar on match day 21, although they’re hardly a team to get stuck into considering they’ve failed to win nine of their ten games at AFAS Stadion so far this term and the aforementioned Druijf has now been loaned out to NEC for the rest of the campaign.

Indeed, with both teams struggling overall and rarely in the winner’s enclosure, this looks a fixture to avoid in terms of the match betting.

October’s clash between the teams could easily have produced more goals as last season’s league meetings did with nine scored in total, and we’re keen on over 3.5 being netted this Friday. Despite being starved of points throughout the campaign, both teams have managed to notch over one goal per game, whilst combined they’ve conceded a whopping 85 times. This should be an open affair with lots of questionable defending, so goals looks the way for a winning wager, with a 2-2 draw fancied.
