Barcelona should have too much firepower for Real Sociedad in Sunday’s La Liga clash at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys, despite the continued absences of Lamine Yamal and Gavi.

Hansi Flick’s side maintained their recent momentum with a come-from-behind win over Real Oviedo on Thursday with Robert Lewandowski back on the scoresheet after coming off the bench.

Following on from their 3-0 destruction of Getafe and the 2-1 Champions League win over Newcastle last week, Barca are on foir-game winning roll. The Catalans have averaged nearly three goals per game this season and look much more defensively secure at home – wherever that may be.

Real Sociedad are stuck in a rut

Real Sociedad, meanwhile, are stuck in a rut. They’ve lost three of their last four and sit 16th in the table, having shipped nine goals in the league already. They scraped a 1-0 home win over fellow strugglers Mallorca in midweek, but the manner of their  3-1 defeat to Real Betis last weekend exposed more defensive frailties and suggests a trip to Barcelona is unlikely to offer much respite.

The visitors will look to Mikel Oyarzabal and Takefusa Kubo to spark something on the break, but Barca are likely to have the lion’s share of everything and carve out ample opportunities for their forward line.

Ferran Torres, who is Barca’s top scorer this term with four strikes, is likely to start up top again and can add to his tally against a defence short on pace or aggression. Back Barcelona -1 on the handicap and a 3-1 home win with the Blaugrana having hit exactly three goals in four of their six La Liga contests to date.
