Tip Reasoning

  • Mansfield have won 12 of their last 14 matches in all competitions, winning four of their last five away games.
  • Barrow have lost three of their last five home league contests.
  • Barrow have scored fewer than two goals in six of their last seven home league games.

Streaking Stags will take some stopping

Mansfield Town are the form side of League Two and their playoff push should continue with a win at relegation-threatened Barrow on Saturday.

The Stags are top of the six, ten and 12-game form tables in the division after winning nine and drawing one of their last dozen league contests. Their only defeats during that sequence came at Sutton United and Exeter City – two of the best seven home teams in League Two.

Barrow, by comparison, are the 20th-best home side in the division – or fifth-worst. They earned a much-needed 2-0 away win at fellow strugglers Colchester last time out, although manager Mark Cooper admitted the performance was not brilliant.

Barrow have firepower to get a goal

The Bluebirds badly needed to recruit some firepower in January and did just that, although both Will Harris and Jacob Wakeling, who were handed debuts at Colchester, are still bedding in and short of full match fitness.

Barrow have only scored multiple times in one of their last seven at the Dunes Hotel Stadium and we wouldn’t expect that to change against a Mansfield. But the visitors have kept only one away clean sheet all season and just three in their last 12 league games overall, so the prospects of an away win with both teams on the scoresheet look good.

Our fancy here is for a 2-1 road success for Mansfield with Barrow, who have scored 14 and conceded 14 in 12 home games this term, denied a draw by the visitors’ surging momentum.
