Colombia vs Portugal Predictions
- Colombia are on a four-game winning run
- Los Cafeteros have just two defeats in their last 15 games
- Portugal have scored in five consecutive games
Top spot the target for Colombia and Portugal
Colombia and Portugal meet at the Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday night in a game that will decide who claims top spot in World Cup Group K.
The South Americans have the advantage after two wins, while Portugal have four points on the board and have to win to move ahead of their opponents.
Colombia are on a four-game winning run and have only lost two of their last 15 games. They only need to avoid defeat to finish top of the group and backing them to either win or draw in the double chance market looks the best angle.
Portugal crushed Uzbekistan 5-0 in their last game but laboured to a 1-1 draw with DR Congo in their opener. If this was a knockout game the Selecao may be fancied to win but the fact Colombia don’t have to be too adventurous makes them a strong bet as a double chance option.
Portugal have struggled to break down quality sides recently as they were held to a draw by Mexico in a warm-up friendly, while they lost to Ireland and were held by Hungary towards the end of their qualification campaign.
Los Cafeteros have put in two solid displays so far at the World Cup and those performances suggest they can get the point they need against Portugal.
Spoils could be shared
Colombia are on a four-match winning run but they may have to settle for a point against Portugal and a 1-1 draw has a chance.
The Selecao are on a seven-game unbeaten run and Colombia have just two losses in their last 15. Both of these sides are tough to beat and ultimately a draw isn’t a bad result for either side, as that would ensure Portugal finish second ahead of DR Congo regardless of their result against Uzbekistan.
Daniel Munoz has starred for Colombia at this tournament and he has scored against both Uzbekistan and DR Congo. The Crystal Palace man looks good value to make it three goals in as many games when his side face Portugal.
