Barrow vs Oldham Predictions
- Oldham’s Boxing Day defeat to Scunthorpe left them winless in five games, and bottom of the League Two table.
- The Latics have scored just six goals in their 10 away games this season, with their last away success coming back in September.
- Barrow thrashed Oldham 3-0 back in September, and have lost just two of their last seven home games.
Oldham in deep trouble
A dismal 3-1 defeat to relegation rivals Scunthorpe ensured an unhappy Christmas for Oldham, who have been without a permanent manager for over a month, and are winless in their last five matches. They now prop up the entire Football League ahead of their trip to Barrow, and have failed to win any of their last seven away games.
Academy coach Selim Benachour stepped up to take charge of the first team after Keith Curle’s departure, amid off-pitch turmoil, and bemoaned the absence of a number of players for that crunch clash with the Irons.
Mid-table Barrow were beaten 2-0 by promotion-chasing Tranmere on Boxing Day, but had won back-to-back home games before that, against playoff contenders Swindon and third-tier Ipswich, the latter in the FA Cup. Barrow have only lost two of their last seven home games, and thrashed Oldham 3-0 in September’s reverse fixture.
Back hosts to pile on misery for Latics
Oldham’s poor run can be traced all the way back to mid-October, with the Latics winning just once in their past 12 games, and things are unlikely to improve for the managerless visitors on Wednesday.
Backing Barrow for a third consecutive home win seems the outstanding play. All of Barrow’s last three games have finished 2-0 either way, making a 2-0 home win seem a decent correct score prediction, particularly with Oldham netting just six times on the road this season.
