Tip Reasoning

  • There have been fewer than three goals in each of Salford’s last six matches
  • None of Barrow’s last six games have included more than two goals
  • Salford are unbeaten in four league games

Barrow struggling at home

It has been a tricky season for Barrow, and a 3-1 defeat against ten man Mansfield on Saturday did their hopes of avoiding relegation no good whatsoever.

Mark Cooper’s side sit seven points above the bottom two, but their home form has been pretty poor, registering just three wins, to go with five defeats and five draws in 13 League Two outings.

They do tend to find a way of hitting the back of the net though. They have scored in all bar three of their matches at Holker Street, with both teams scoring on nine occasions.

Salford simply too inconsistent

If Salford are to mount a serious push for a play-off position, they must start stringing results together – and need to avoid shock defeats such as their 3-0 reverse to Colchester at the weekend.

Gary Bowyer’s side are in tenth place in the table and have won four of their twelve matches on the road, with three of those victories coming in their last five away games in League Two.

One issue is they are conceding too many. The four games they have won have all been to nil, but otherwise they have not kept a clean sheet on their travels, with both teams scoring in eight of their 15 away matches in all competitions.

I suspect both teams will score in this one because both have problems in defence, so that is my initial pick, and history suggests if Salford concede, they do not win, so I predict 1-1 as a correct score.
