      Basel vs Trabzonspor Predictions

      • Basel have already qualified from Group C and, with a tough game against Luzern at the weekend, could see some rotation within their side.
      • Trabzonspor have already been eliminated from the Europa League and this game is academic for them, with nothing to play for for the Turkish side.
      • Basel have scored an average of two goals a game whilst Tranzonspor have only managed three goals in the competition to this point.

      Will Basel be full strength?

Basel have already secured their route to the final 32 and with the Swiss Super League tight at the top, may look to give some squad players a run out and not risk any injuries or suspensions as they approach a busy period.

The team has been in good form in the Europa League, winning three of their first four games but they tasted defeat in their last match, a 1-0 defeat against Krasnodar and they will be looking to avoid another loss here and progress as the winners of Group C.

      Will Trabzonspor have any motivation?

Things are similar for Trabzonspor as they come into the game with nothing to play for but this is because they have no chance of qualification, or even finishing off the foot of the table. They too are embroiled in a tight race for the title in their domestic league and could be keen to rest their better players for this match.

The Turkish side have only scored three goals in the competition this season, two of them in the reverse of this fixture and have looked outclassed every time they’ve taken to the pitch. Expectations are low for them in this match and a win looks really unlikely.

No real reward but does that mean a poor match?

We’re thinking there will be little motivation for either side in this match with nothing to really play for at either end of the pitch. There could be some squad players who look to stake their claim for a more regular starting berth though and this could lead to an open game. With this in mind, we’re predicting both teams to score in an entertaining contest.

Despite there not being much depending on the match and with the risk of rotation in both sides, we still think Basel will be too strong for their opponents and we think a 2-1 win for Basel is the most likely result.
