Bayer Leverkusen to Win

Reason for tip

Leverkusen lead 2-0 from the first leg in Greece and should win again with Patrick Schick, who was a handful for the Olympiacos defence last week, in their starting line-up. Olympiacos have lost two of their last four games and failed to score in three of them.

Bayer Leverkusen 3-0

Reason for tip

Olympiacos have lost their goal touch of late and may struggle to trouble the hosts, who have won five of their last six home games to nil. Two of their last three home matches have finished 3-0 and that may be possible against a team that are staring at a European exit.

Patrik Schick To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Patrik Schick has scored four goals in his last five games (four starts), including a brace in the first leg. His aerial ability and nose for goal gave the Olympiacos defenders bigger problems than they had in the group stage game in Piraeus when he came off the bench for the last 20 minutes.

Bayer Leverkusen vs Olympiacos Predictions

  • Leverkusen lead 2-0 from the first leg in Greece
  • Patrick Schick was a handful for the Olympiacos defence last week
  • Olympiacos have lost two of their last four games and failed to score in three of them

Schick is the key to BayArena battle

Bayer Leverkusen should finish the job off at BayArena when an out-of-form Olympiacos arrive in Germany in a bid to overturn a 2-0 first-leg deficit. Kasper Hjulmand’s side were patient and clinical in Piraeus last week with Patrik Schick proving a major handful for the Greek champions.

The Czech striker was benched for the group stage game between these clubs, which Olympiacos won 2-0. But he led the line brilliantly last week when put in front the start, scoring two superb goals.

It’s almost certain that he will start again on Tuesday after being given only 30 minutes off the bench in Leverkusen’s 1-0 defeat to Union Berlin at the weekend. And his presence in the home side should ensure that they have the edge again.

Olympiacos need to rediscover goal touch

Olympiacos have lost two of their last four games and failed to score in three of them, which does not inspire much confidence in them getting any kind of result against the Bundesliga side. Leverkusen have won five of their last six at home and are scoring plenty in front of their own fans.

Back a home win here and the odds-on price which is close enough to even money. Hjulmand’s men do not have to win, but they are very much in the habit of beating inferior visitors to BayArena.

The Greek champions have won their last two Champions League away tests, against Ajax and Kairat, but neither of those clubs finished in the top 30 of the league stage, let alone the top 24. Leverkusen, on the other hand, have won four of their last six European games including against fellow knockout phase sides Manchester City and Benfica.
